Technology That Has Influenced My Life

The piece of technology that has influenced my life the most would have to be the automobile.  Today, many people take advantage of the fact that they can travel with relative ease and comfort.  We tend to forget that the car only became widely available a century or so ago.  The expressways and Interstates that make travel even less of a problem only came to be in the 1950s.  Before this technology, people could only travel as far as their feet, horse, or maybe ox could take them.  Because of this, people became isolated to the town that they lived in.  I moved to Yorkville about 9 years ago and, thanks to the car, have been able to stay in touch with friend I had in my old neighborhood.  This would not have been possible before widely available travel came to be.  I have also been able to see much of America due to the car.  Many of these experiences were some of the best memories of my childhood.  All of this would not have been possible without the car.
